WARNING

PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THE FOLLOWING WARNINGS ABOUT THE USE OF LITHIUM POLYMER BATTERIES (COMMONLY KNOWN AS Li-Poly OR LiPo BATTERIES).

Having read and agreed to these guidelines, you can then click the Proceed With Order button below.

If you are new to electric flight we would recommend you start with Nicad (NiCd) or Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) first before using LiPo's. The small size of these cells beguiles their potential to deliver a large amount of energy very quickly.

Improper use and handling of these cells can result in them rupturing and bursting into flames.

The charging requirements of Lithium cells are very different to NiCad or NiMH. They require a special charger specifically designed to charge lithium cells. There are many suitable chargers on the market, USE ONE. You must NEVER charge lithium cells with a NiCad or NiMH only battery charger. This is very dangerous. Charging cells is the most hazardous part of using lithium batteries. EXTREME care must be taken when charging them. Always check that your charger is set to the correct cell count and charge rate. Charge LiPo cells at a maximum of 1C. This means for a cell of 1200mAh capacity cell you charge at a maximum of 1.2 amps. If your charger has fixed charging rates that you select that do not match the 1C rating of your pack ALWAYS select the closest rate below 1C. As an example, for the 1200mAh cell mentioned above if your charger has a 1 amp rate and a 1.3 amps rate you should use the 1 amp rate. Please CHARGE LiPo CELLS RESPONSIBLY.

  • Do not charge LiPo cells unattended
  • Do not charge LiPo cells at more than 1C
  • Do not use a charger that isn't designed for LiPo cells
  • Do not bend, puncture or deform the cells in any way
  • Do not charge to over 4.2 volts per cell
1 cell maximum charge voltage 4.2 volts
2 cells in series maximum charge voltage 8.4 volts
3 cells in series maximum charge voltage 12.6 volts
4 cells in series maximum charge voltage 16.8 volts
  • Do not discharge to less than 3 volts per cell
1 cell maximum discharge voltage 3.0 volts
2 cells in series maximum discharge voltage 6.0 volts
3 cells in series maximum discharge voltage 9.0 volts
4 cells in series maximum discharge voltage 12.0 volts
  • Do not leave lithium cells in your car. The heat from the sun will make the internal temperature of your car exceed the safe storage temperature of LiPoly cells (60 degrees Celsius)
  • Do not charge cells in or on your car or anything else flammable
  • Do charge your LiPo cells on a non-flammable surface such as a Pyrex dish, cooking tray or cement slab.
  • Do check your LiPo pack for damage such as dents or ballooning.
  • Do charge your batteries in an open ventilated area. If a battery does rupture or explode hazardous smoke, fumes and possibly flames could spew from the battery.
  • COOLING IS KING. To aid the service life of your pack / cells please ensure adequate cooling. The greater cooling your pack has during use the longer it will last. DO not exceed 60 degrees Celsius during use (or any other time). If your pack is approaching this temperature during use you do not have sufficient cooling.
